This is not undesirable. You want to have as stable an environment for your cigars as possible, and an insulated cabinet will slow the temperature fluctuations inside.

Look at it this way:

Your house is acting as an insulating box. Let's say the outside temp hits a low point of 60 degrees overnight for an extended enough time so that the inside of the house hits 60. As the sun rises the outside temp goes up pretty quickly. If you leave the windows closed the inside temp goes up more slowly. Add to this an insulated box inside the house and you're buffering even more, allowing very slow changes in temp to occur over time.

I say go for it. It's better than not insulating.
I generally agree. But, for the same reasons that an insulated cabinet will maintain temps longer, it will also maintain a higher temp longer as we, once it is achieved.

It's kind of like that great invention called the thermos. Somehow, it always knows how to maintain the right temp. If you put in something cold, it keeps it cold. If you put in something hot, it keeps it hot.
