Need tips on outside accoustics

I agree with Lotus some of the best sound I have had has been outdoors at Festivals with able sound crews/equipment. I do disagree with having people 'close' to the band. I have known very few bands that understand the terms 'turn it down'. If they have a drummer (rock band) they have to play loud enough to compete with the drums. I play music and someone else handles the sound, but if it were me I would have them away from the crowd somewhat. Like I said Lotus_dude does sound I just complain about the sound when it ain't right. I don't think being very close to a 'rock' band is good for conversation and what not.
