Flatboat bourbon
New expression from Buffalo Trace. 92 proof. Not a single barrel or small batch. $40 for a 1.75l. Similar price as the BT brand.
For 92 proof, it's remakably smoth and not hot at all. Very strong vanilla that fades into caramel. Sweet, smooth and remarkably drinkable. I'm a long time fan of the BT mashbill. This one is a winner. Very good whiskey at a very good price point. Good value. Recommended. May have found a new sipping whiskey.

Note: there's nothing on the bottle that indicates that it is a BT product. The whiskey guy at my liquor store told me it was and the display was marked as such.
The flavor is pretty unmistakably BT.

Sazerac, who owns Buffalo Trace, also owns Barton 1792 distillery, who makes Flatboat. Might be a branding ploy.

If it's anywhere near as good as the 1792, then it's certainly worth trying.

In my youth, we bought Barton's QT whiskey. Rot gut, to be sure. Regardless of its heritage, it's not a bad sippping whiskey. It ain't Pappy, Stagg or Stagg Jr.. i would rather drink the garden variety Sazerac rye. Since nobody carries Sazerac around here, it's a reasonable substitute.

Went to the Total Wine here at the beach it also carries liquor the one at home doesn't. They had a huge selection but no Flatboat. Picked up a bottle of Clyde May's bourbon. Ever tried it?
