Beetles. Ever get them ?

So, I was smoking a bunch of seconds the other day, whilst I was carp fishing. I started thinking, "when was the last time I saw a tobacco beetle, or signs thereof. ". So, both me and myself pondered this, and decided it's been a long time. Turn of the century, while boom cigars were phasing out , you could find holes, destruction and once in a box of Flor de Allonse(sp), a whole colony. I haven't seen anything in years. Is everyone fumigating,or other processes to ensure insect death ? Just wondering.

Freezing them to -20F will kill them. Last time I had beetles was in the aftermath of Katrina, where my coolers couldn't stay cold enough to prevent them from hatching.

Several years ago, I found a Mayorga maduro Robusto in my collection with a small, single round hole in it. Not knowing if it was a beetle or not that had caused it, I separated it out from all the others in a small baggie. I still have that very same cigar and it is still in a baggie. No further holes have occurred. Guess I will have to smoke that thing soon. Never had any other issues in my collection... Knock on wood.

Well , I think the responses make the point. Not an issue since the boom ,unless there are dire circumstances .Makes me think it may be a good time to open the crap coolerdor. They are some old cigars and not maintained. Whenever I get the courage, I'll let you know what I find.
