Single Malts

I've come to tap your wisdom yet again bros...
Thanks to you i've been turned on to the world of Bourbons...
Tried my hand at Port but i'm just not diggin' that

Now i'd like to explore single malt and i come to you.

Please, if you could, tell me the absolute best
(cost does not matter, only that it can be had at any large seller)

And secondly, list maybe three runners up.

This is to collect opinions and popular consensus as a starting point,
and to see what i can find locally to sample. If my taste in bourbon would help i'll add my favorites, but i'd rather not influence your suggestions, as to the best stuff out there.
