Catchy title huh?

Ok, I have been smoking cigars and recently found a GREAT local cigar shop that is set in a restored antique house. The environment is great which has really sparked my enjoyment of smoking cigars. There are lots of regulars (to the point of a lawyer who is there everyday and been coming since the 70's). Most of them smoke pipes and of course I have been watching and smelling

I want to try smoking a pipe. This shop has close to 500 different pipes ranging from cheap to some the owner makes at 400+ a pop.

Your mission? Its easy, help me pick the right stuff to get started. So, that being said, any suggestion offered would be GREATLY appreciated as I try and read everything I can on pipes.
