My first Pappy experience!

Was in a shop today and the owner and I got to be talking about bourbon and cigars. He told me to hold on and disappeared into the back. He came back with this and offered me a full glass. Unbelievably delicious!

It was as smooth as anything I've ever had. It hit my pallat like normal, but when I looked for the burn, it just slid on down my throat like water. Phenomenal stuff.

I've heard it referred to as 'bottled silk'. Pretty close to my experience with it.

I think I understand. Grtrx sent me a bottle of elijah craig 18 or so year old stuff, and really, it was a whole different experience. Like a cognac.

Bookers best was an amazing experience. Sip it. Seriously.

This stuff has Booker's best beat by about a factor of four on the smoothness scale. Pogo gifted me a bottle of Pappy Rye and I damn near went through the whole bottle in that evening because it was so smooth. I had no idea how top-shelf it was. Kinda like a member I know that mixes top-shelf bourbon with Coke. Forgive me, Father, for I didn't know what I was doing.

And that's only the VW 12 year old. It gets better with the Pappy 15 year and the 20 year will blow your mind (23 year will blow your wallet).

If you like that, there is a whole world of bourbon you need to try, my friend! The 12 year W.L. Weller is similar (almost as good, but not quite) at only $27 a bottle. Up from there, as the price rises, so does the deliciousness.

I've seen the PVW 20 at over $200 a bottle.

Sigh. I remember not so long ago when the Van Winkle 12 yr Lot B was readily available ... and only $30 per 750ml at the local BevMo.

I would've bought that by the case.
