I like mine
I've had one of these grinders for about 10 months now, use it daily and can fully reccomend it for drip and Americano. Go to coffeegeek.com and read the reviews. It seems you can adjust the burrs to grind espresso and there's a review that describes how. I don't drink espresso so I can't comment on that. Unlike any other burr grinder I've used, this one has no problems with static electricity.
This is a very well built machine that handles up to a lb. of coffee in the hopper. The only things you have to be concerned about is coffee shooting from the chute and getting stuck in the chute. Read the reviews, but briefly: 1. Don't lift the chute lid when grinding coffee into any container. If you do, you'll have coffee everywhere. Let the ground coffee push it's way out and you'll be fine. 2. After you're done grinding you'll need a toothpick to extract the small amount of coffee left in the chute. I do it with every grind and what I originally thought of as a royal pain is now an afterthought. It takes a few seconds. Search the net and you can probably get a better deal. I think I paid $109 for mine, delivered from ABT. Not sure if that's the place, but I think so. Overall, compared to other burr grinders in that price range, this is among the best. Kitchenaid stands behind their products and they have pretty good customer support. |
