I was roasting some Columbians (beans that is) last night out on the deck in the dark and thought I'd try using the lid from my wife's popper (the one for popcorn) to see if there was any differnce in roast time.

Boy would I say there was. Nearly burnt my beans and melted the popper lid a bit. The temp got considerably hotter and roasted faster and darker.

The coffee this morning was extremely tasty!! Out of the 3 or 4 from the Sampler I have tried, these have been the best so far.

I have been popping without a lid, and actually starting placing my canning funnel on top since I was using it to pour the beans into my jar after pop to cool, which prevented the beans from jumping out as they get larger and lighter. With the lid, roast time was reduced and temperature was obviously increased.
