Lagavulin as it should be...
57.7% cask-strength 12 year old bottled in 2005
Rippling peat-saturated Islay of the highest order. Normally, the contribution of the casks lends a dryness to the flavour spectrum of a whisky. Here, the oak is so fresh, clean and sweet that you want to bite into it. And the wood brings lovely malt and fruit notes with it. Almost before you have a chance, however, waves of deep peat smoke wash into every corner of your palate, and refuse to leave. Pale in colour. Not pale in taste. The way Lagavulin was meant to taste! With a touch of water if absolutely needed, but as it pours by preference.
