I just bought a Cigar Oasis to replace my old green oasis. After two weeks of running, I think the old green oasis acheives a better job in keep the humidity stable at 67%.
After I switch to the Cigar Oasis and set the control dial at 10 o'clock position, my humidity are stable at 70% even if I unplug the system my humidor still at 70% w/o droping. 70% is a good number but I think 65-68% is still a better condition for my cigars (some ISOM are now hard to stay lit!). Am I too picky or what? A box of BPC: $160, A box of RyJ Caz: $180, Tiffany Cutter: $250, Max out my Credit Card Overlimit fee: $25, A night w/ fine Cuban Smoke & Spinning Head: Priceless!

Turn the Cigar Oasis down a bit.It took some time for me to dial it in to the desired humidity level but once I did it has been smooth sailing.

What Oppie X said. It takes some trial and error to dial it in.

Agree with others. I have two and they run at about the 7 O'Clock position for 67-68 degrees. There is still some evaporation from the reservoir with the fan not running. In summer I unplug mine and the slow evaporation takes care of things in my basement storage. Just dial it way down and you'll be fine.

I have two of these units and I also agree with the others. I live in South Florida, which is more humid than most places in this country, and I was able to dial mine in for 67%.
Interestingly, one of the units I had was in a igloo cooler, and I took it out about 3 weeks ago, yet the humidity has stayed steady at 67%. I am now putting the Oasis into my new wine-fridge-ador I got for Christmas. Good luck.

The Igoloodor will stay stable because it has an almost perfect seal. It took me about 2 weeks of trial and error to get it dialed down to 66% which is where I like mine.
If I could redesign it, there are a lot of things I'd do to it. Adding a digital readout is a couple quarters worth of electronics. Giving you an adjustment where you can dial in the humidity you want isn't that hard. I hate the adjustment knobs. The only reliable way I've found to adjust them is to use a flat head screwdriver inserted into the little slot (that wasn't designed for a screwdriver) otherwise turning that knob is nearly impossible. |
