Piano Trios
On a piano trio kick at the moment and was wondering who you're favorites are ?
Like the Red Garland trio (with Paul Chambers and Art Taylor) and of course Oscar Peterson's (with Ray Brown and Ed Thigpen) but for me there's no going past the classic Wynton Kelly trio (with Paul Chambers and Jimmy Cobb) and any McCoy Tyner trio . Both of them seem to have such a beautiful, limpid melodic sense and rhythmic, driving phrasing . If you've never had the pleasure, get yourself McCoy Tyner's Reaching Fourth and Wynton Kelly's Someday My Prince Will Come.
