Sterile Water

Apparently, I don't have access to distilled water here in Saudi. My Chief suggested that I use the medical sterile water. He's pretty sure that it's distilled to make it sterile for medical use.

Anyone have any experience with this?

distilled is sometimes labeled "deionized." Sterile water I suspect is just chemically treated.

find a pharmacy. when activating some liquid medicines, you are required to use sterile distilled water. almost any pharmacy should have it.

Ah yes. A pharmacy. I had forgotten about that. Well, I guess that will have to wait a few more days until things cool off a bit here.

Thanks, Brian. Fortunately, I only have some sheets of Spanish cedar in a small Glad storage box that holds almost 20 robustos. At least I wouldn't be messing up a whole humidor.

sterile water should be ok

the sterile distilled water we use to dilute drugs is sterile water for injection. for stuff like amoxicillin oral suspension we use good old distilled water.

And there is always "bring it to a boil" if you think it's chemically sterilized... but I doubt that. If it's labeled Sterile, it should be just damn fine, as our great RX has already indicated!

cigars give off ammonia gas as they age... so between cedar, tobacco aromas and ammonia I'm sure they can develop a "smell". Take some of the smelly beads, swirl them around in 90% pure rubbing alcohol and see if that fixes the problem after the alcohol evaporates.... Otherwise, replace them if the smell is "not cigar friendly"...

If you have a battery shop on base (vehicles, generators, aircraft) they might have distilled water.

Look into STERILE WATER FOR IRRIGATION.

Sterile Water for Irrigation USP is a sterile, hypotonic, nonpyrogenic irrigating fluid or pharmaceutic aid (solvent) entirely composed of Sterile Water for Injection USP. It is prepared by distillation and contains no antimicrobial or bacteriostatic agents or added buffers. The pH is 5.7 (5.0–7.0)
Think that would do the trick?
