I've had the "big" Bodum for a long time and love it!!!!

The only way to make coffee!!

In fact, I pressed a pot of African Assassin this morning.

I love my FP. I'm totally addicted to coffee now because of it.

You should get yourself a nice burr grinder as well so you can buy whole bean coffee and grind just before brewing. Grind it relatively coarse, too, as this will help reduce the sediment common at the bottom of the cup with FP brewing.

a whirly bird grinder works well with a FP as you don't need to grind that fine and you can get one just about anywhere (even walgreens) for about 9USD. the key is to not let the coffee and the water sit together longer than 3 minutes before you push the plunger SLOWLY down, don't force it, if it won't go down pull it back up and try pushing it back down, the key is not to over-extract.
use a good coffee(fresh) and follow the reccomenddations of 6oz of water per 2TBL of ground coffee, if it came with a measure use it for something else unless it measures 1 or 2 TBL spoons.
let the water come off the boil slightly before pouring over the grounds, stir and let sit for 3 minutes before pushing the plunger. decant immediantlly, as the coffee on the bottom is still releasing oils and they will get bitter, enjoy as the press pot makes the best cup of coffee bar none.
what brand and type is it? is it metal or plastic? the frame that is?

I use a 32 oz french press daily. A good point as ferdelance said is to not get an overextraction and decant immediately . As soon as I have pressed the coffee I pour the contents into a thermos/carafe. I find this to be the best brewing method as well.

Read this tutorial from coffeegeek on use of the press pot

Also good advice on how to use a press pot at:
http://www.sweetmarias.com/brewinstr.frenchpress.html

Using a press pot is my favorite way to make a good cup of fresh home roast.

The biggest thing you're gonna have to do now is use VERY fresh beans. Or at least as fresh as you can get them.

Mr. Jerry has some excellant coffee and will ship it out in great shape. It's really as good as you'll get without roasting it yourself.
