Atlanta Mercedes-Benz Stadium
Hey, are any of you Atlanta folks, or traveling Football Fans, going to the opening game at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium?
I understand it is a Pre-season match on Aug 26. Reason I'm asking is that a friend who is a Sports Reporter in the Tampa area is looking for someone who is going to give him some first hand knowledge/impressions of the stadium. I don't know all the details, but if anyone is going and would be willing to help out I'll put you guys in touch and you can work out the details. Personally, at the rate I get to stadiums lately I might make it to the replacement for the Mercedes-Benz when it opens in 15 years. Heck that isn't even $100 million a year amortized.

I would go if I had tickets. Prefer the USC v Bama game. It's not going to be finished in time. The roof doesn't work. It's what happens when you hire a architect as a designer with no background in structural engineering.

I don't know that their business plan is sustainable in Atlanta. The franchise seat fees alone are going to be a barrier to a lot of fans.

Jason, fans don't buy them, corporations do.
In Dallas you get seats from companies giving them to you or feom tbem selling them on a ticket site. Which also explains why the mavs are "sold out" when there only 4,000 people there... The fan is the last thing owners are worried about

I have a friend who has a pretty big role in the new stadium. He hosted over 200 media there in the last couple days. No idea if they'd be interested in talking with him or if he would be willing to speak with them, but I could potentially pass along some contact info.

1 is an 18 year old from ATL going to his first pro football game. 1 is a 20 something German National Ph'd candidate at Georgia Tech who is a big soccer fan going to the game with friends. 1 is an early 40ish gal from Texas that is on a quest to visit all the NFL & MLB stadiums. Her 70ish Mom is with her so the senior aspect should get handled also. Should be interesting. Thx. Can't believe any of you guys in ATL aren't dropping $50 for a nose bleed seat to see the opening event.

ATL is a terrible sports town. They pipe in fan noise for the Falcons games, most of the Braves fans live OUTSIDE of ATL and they forget the Hawks exist.

That, and if my neighborhood Soccer Hooligan is to be trusted, ATL's new soccer team is drawing 40,000 plus people a match.
