I got one form cigarbid.com and I have a question about it

Excuse me ahead of time if this is a dumb question, but I'm pretty new to cigars.

I noticed that there is a little hole with a rubber O-ring at one end, but there doesn't seem to be anything in there to prevent air/moisture from escaping the humidor. Looks like there is just a hole in the humidor with a rubber ring around it. Should there be some sort of valve there? Is my humidor missing a piece? What is this hole for? is this just top let air escape when you put the pieces together?

OK, that's all the dumb questions for now.
