SCLH El Principe.... better luck next time or not
This was a recent production SCLH El Principe from '06.
Well, the wrapper's appearance was perfect. The cigar was not overly-filled producing a perfect draw. However, my goodness, upon my first draw, it yielded a bitter taste. And then, (I'm not overstating it), but this was possibly the worst cigar in my life. I have never had a bad isom. This was a very bad one, the worst isom and non-isom of my life. It tasted like wood, dirt and "manure (not that I've ever tasted manure)" After 15 minutes of praying it would change, it didn't and I threw it out. The mrs usually doesn't find me offensive after a smoke, but I had to head for the showers and mouthwash and multiple tooth brushings to get the putrid taste off my body and out of my mouth. It lingered for over a day in spite of my efforts. I was wondering if I just got unlucky, because from what I have heard the El Principes can be pretty tasty. Not today. It even made my Glenrothes scotch taste lousy. I'm liable never to give this one a try again. It was utterly gross. |
