Redwood in a humidor?

So last night I went to a cigar lounge that has been open a year or so, and I get to talking with the owner about his walk in. Being in the middle of a little project of my own, I asked him where he got the wood to line it with. He names a local lumberyard, and says that they know him by name now and hand pick his lumber because they kow how particular he is.......

so I ask him what kind of wood he had, knowing full well that it wasnt SC or mahogany......

he proceded to tell me the wood in there is actually the second lining for that humi. First he said he had put marine grade mahogany plywood in there. I had to refrain from laughing at that point. Well, it didnt take him long to realize you can't use marine grade plywood in a humi! His customers eyes were watering from all the formaldehyde! So he said he tore that out and now has redwood lining the entire room, which is about 15'x8'

Honestly, that is the first time I have heard of someone using redwood in a humi.....my first instinct would be to run far away from redwood lining.....but what say you experts out there?
