Humidity Question

I would like to ask you all a question about the humidity in the humidor. My humidor seems to stay at 65% humidity. I am using one Humi- Care crystal humidifier Gel. I seasoned it for about 5 days till it came up to 70 % then added my cigars and it went down to 65 % and has stayed there now for about 3 days. I also have a digital meter that I did calibrate. Is this an ok humidity for my cigars?

Thanks Roger

That's an ideal situation. Keep it at 65 and you're good to go.

Depends on your own personal tastes. I prefer my cigars in the 63-65% range, but other people prefer them drier or wetter. Find out what you like and go for that.

In any case, 65% is just fine, will not harm your cigars at all.

If your humidifier has a 70% set point, and you then add cigars and get 65%, it means your cigars were a little dry. It will take them some time to acclimate. In the meantime there is no cause for concern. Make sure you keep your humidifier charged. If RH starts to go down instead of up, it indicates the humidifier needs water.

I like cigars at 65% too.

65% works for me.

Cigars burn better, no bitterness (unless I smoke too fast or draw too hard), allows the tobacco flavor to come through.

I prefer mine a little wetter (68-70%) but what the guys said is spot-on. I learned a bunch of things here about storing but the best advice I got was once you figure out where you like your humidity, that's the best level for you.
