Sterile Water
Apparently, I don't have access to distilled water here in Saudi. My Chief suggested that I use the medical sterile water. He's pretty sure that it's distilled to make it sterile for medical use.
Anyone have any experience with this?

distilled is sometimes labeled "deionized." Sterile water I suspect is just chemically treated.
find a pharmacy. when activating some liquid medicines, you are required to use sterile distilled water. almost any pharmacy should have it. |

Ah yes. A pharmacy. I had forgotten about that. Well, I guess that will have to wait a few more days until things cool off a bit here.
Thanks, Brian. Fortunately, I only have some sheets of Spanish cedar in a small Glad storage box that holds almost 20 robustos. At least I wouldn't be messing up a whole humidor.

sterile water should be ok
the sterile distilled water we use to dilute drugs is sterile water for injection. for stuff like amoxicillin oral suspension we use good old distilled water.

And there is always "bring it to a boil" if you think it's chemically sterilized... but I doubt that. If it's labeled Sterile, it should be just damn fine, as our great RX has already indicated!

boiling will sterilize it but to distill out the chemicals and salts you have to boil, catch the steam, condense the steam... that would seem to be a lot of work for cigars
sterile water for injection and sterile water for irrigation are both available but in some places require a prescription

what you don't want is bacteriostatic water - that has a preservative

I don't think it will matter much. I've been going through stuff here pretty quick. Plus, it's only some small sheets of Spanish cedar. Once I can get to a cigar shop here, I should be able to put some fresh stuff in there. And I would hope that in this arid climate, they would have solution, or beads available there.
Now, onto the distilling of the water. That's all very well and good, but I would personally prefer to distill some sort of mash, or something...

I'm sure your hosts would love for you to distill some date brandy.
