Smoking Jackets
Hi guys! I've been real busy with the new job, and going to Louisiana for two weeks deployment awhile back. I never seem to have the time to get on here anymore.
Anyway, I seem to remember something from somewhere, either on here, or a movie, where the discussion of smoking jackets came up. Does anybody have one? Do they use it? Does it really work, or not at all? I'm curious.

Would you mind removing your windbreaker first?

I had one that I bought for the last CW Reno Herf I went to. I spent quite alot of time searching for it. Ebay has, or had, a pretty good selection. The real smoking jackets fall into the vintage clothing category and are popular. If you are a regular size 42 or smaller you can easily find one at a reasonable price. I'm a 48/50. The larger sizes are rare. So if you see a jacket that you like, you will have to bid high for it. My jacket was dark blue corduroy with black lapels and cuffs in a sport coat style. The older belted ones are the coolest. After a few years of it languishing in my closet I sold my coat on ebay for a tidy profit. Were I to buy another I'd look for something flashier. And I think I'd add a fez!

been looking around for one Ebay has a bunch of cheesy costume ones and some 60s styles but haven't been able to find the Victorian look I want. I think I will buy this reversible jacket as soon as they become available again. Link

My wife found one at Marshall Fields for me about 6 years ago. Its a very nice Joseph Aboud in gray and black with velvet lapels and was reduced for clearance down to $75. It was a rare 46 long and fit perfectly. I wear it at some dinner parties and have worn it out to smoke at a few hotel bars in town. I think list was about $600 so it was a great buy at that time. I do get enough wear out of it to keep it in my closet.
