Now that I've roasted several batches, I've noticed that my Hearthware Gourmet roasts are on the bright or I guess "acid" side.

This is nice but as most of the coffee I've drank in the past several years from micro-roasters has been roasted in traditional drum roasters.

Now it may be because I get really anal and read up before I get heavy into things... But my understanding is that traditional drum roasters develop more body and richness than fluid bed roasters that use hot air to roast.

The roasting time is also longer with drum roasting than with fluid bed roasting. This is suppose to account for the fuller body.

As it will be a while, at least a year, before I purchase an Alpenrost or the new HotTop Drum Roaster (see:

for more info).

Do you think that fluid bed roasting makes a brighter more acid coffee versus a richer fuller body with drum roasting???
