Need Help With Diamond Crown Humidifier

I let the humidification system dry up, and now it won't wick any water from the resevoir. Tried soaking in over nite, but to no avail. The diamond crown web site is under construction, so no help there.

TIA

So...you're saying that the water stays in the reservoir and doesn't humidify the humidor?. Have you put it in the humidor? How have you tested performance?

Put the humidifier in the humidor with a seperate moisture source. When the RH reaches 70%, take the seperate source out. If the humidor RH% drops over a period of several days, maybe it's time to toss the humidifier.

It is in the humi, and the resevoir is still full after one month. I've had these before and you need to fill them twice a month. You may be right about tossing it...

If your ambient RH is high, the resevoir will stay full MUCH longer. When I was using these humidifiers I once went 4 months before refilling. Don't know about your area, but here in WI the humidity has been pretty high for some time. I haven had to charge my beads for some time.

The main question is: How's the RH in your humidor or cooler been?

Low. 56%. I seasoned it prior to placing the humidifier in. It went from 70% to 56% in three to five days.

Do you have one of the large humidifiers, or small? It could be the size is too small for the space. Do you have cigars in there? You should have it at least 2/3 full.

I know these are basic suggestions. I just want to be sure all bases are covered.

It's a 100 count and an extra large humidifier with humi 2/3rds full.

Is it one of the ones that you open the cap an refill?

If so I've had mine forever and it has dried out and still works. What you can do is soak it. I know that isn't what was supposed to be done with these, but at this point, what do you have to lose? When you do, put one or two drop of UNSCENTED dish detergent in the water. It breaks the surface tension of the water and also allow the material to soak up the water easier.

Yeah, I suspected you had it all right. I guess you should try the FSU method as a last resort.

Try filling the DC humidifier with kitty litter
