Curivari Buenaventura BV500

5.2x50 slightly box pressed with a dark brown Nicaraguan wrapper and Nicaraguan filler as well.
After lighting the aroma is the 1st thing that strikes you as very pleasant. Like a sweet cedar with a hint of chocolate.
Flavors are similar to aroma. Pretty mild to start out. Retro is pure cedar

A third of the way in and it's required a touchup to even out the burn. Ash it still hanging on. Started out dark gray for the 1st inch and is now turning mostly white with a little gray mixed in. Flavors and aromas are the same but with more intensity. It's move into medium bodied territory now.

Around the half way point and the cedar is accompanied by hints of pepper and a little leather joins the flavor profile as well. Retro has some mild pepper thrown into the predominantly cedar profile.

Last third. Little cedar tingling on the lips. Like a cuban but in a mild way but very welcome to my pallet. I wish that was present for the entire cigar. Aroma has lost the cedar and is more chocolatey now. Very nice. Pepper has taken center stage on the retro with a mild cedar in there as well. Thats pretty much how this finished up. Cedar on the front of the pallet and more pepper in the last third.

Overall a very nice smoke if you like those flavor profiles. At less than 5 bucks a stick, well worth the money.

Looking at some other reviews of this it appears I may have jumped the gun on smoking this so soon off the truck.. Next week I will revisit and try again.

Wow, what a difference a couple weeks makes.
Started smoking this before the fireworks got going tonight. This thing really changed in the last couple weeks. When I did this review I just figured they was decent enough and I can always make em yard cigars or something. After tonights smoke I definitely need more. Only 8 left LOL.
Did I just get a really good one or something? I was driving home smoking on the last 1 1/2 inches and thinking this is a cuban cigar. Sweet salty spice on the lips. Some burnt leaf flavors as well. Just fantastic cigar. 4 Bucks a stick delivered? (Plus tax and excise tax if you have one).
This is a nice medium strength cigar, similar to most Cubans that I like. Cubans aren't typically heavy on the nicotine and neither was this. just fantastic flavors. Some wood, toasted nut, and the others I mentioned above. If this is this good after a couple extra weeks I can't imagine how much the Limitada reserves must have improved but I will find out tomorrow by the pool.

I'll agree with your second assessment. They do well aging.

All of their lines are outstanding; that said, there are a *few* that don't match my palate. Very few.

Never heard of these and I sure didn't know that there were still really good cigars available at that price point.
Thx for the great review.

The Curivari's have flown under the radar for many I think. I did a review on another one before. I have several left to review and may just do a Curivari review day and bang em all out in one review.

I had my first one a few days ago. This is my next purchase. There are available, but CP has the best prices and mostly sold out. I wasn't sure what to expect but I loved it.

Glad you enjoyed them as well. I see CP is sold out now. Glad I bought a few boxes when I did.
I think all of my curivaris have settled in now so probably time for that curivari review. I think I have 5 different ones left. I have already finished the selection privada coronas. Decent cigar but curivari has better so I probably won't order those again
