Cigar Lighting 101

Hello, this post is pretty much for the newbies but anyone can learn from it... Ok i realize that alot of us have our own techniques for lighting our favorite cigars... Here is a technique that i learned while hanging out in this cigar shop that went outta business... Ok u take ur lighter of ur choice, dosent matter if its a zippo, colibri, throw away lighter, or matches... What u do is u take the cigar and roll it in the flame so then it will get a nice and even burn it takes practice but it works... I've been useing that same technique sence i was 18 and every time i light a cigar that way i get a close to an even if not even burn...

yes Josh, the term for that is called "Toasting the Foot"

Ever wonder why that cigar shop went out of business?

All in good fun buddy.

Anyone up for a game of Minesweeper Flags on MSN?

I'd have to disagree with you on one thing ur lighter of ur choice, dosent matter if its a zippo, colibri, throw away lighter, or matches I wouldn't use anything but a good butane lighter. Zippo's/Bic's and the like will add some impurities to your cigar that you don't want. As far as matches go, sure, as long as you allow the sulfer to burn off BEFORE you start to light the cigar.[/i]

I dip the foot in kerosene and torch it with a zippo. Always an even burn and you never even notice the smell to the naptha from the zippo.

When I'm grilling, I find that if you soak the cigar in lighter fluid, ala Homer, it makes a nice mushroom cloud when you spark the Colibri. Only have to get the flame *close* to the cigar and off she goes.....
