Cigar #194 Blind Review. Exodus 1959 Torp.

This is our last review and I hope everyone enjoyed doing them as much as I did.

This cigar was given to us by Neophyte.

It looks like we all agreed on this one but there were obviously a couple of duds in the batch.
A high score of 42 and a low of 24 gave this one an average score of 34.8

PreSmoke:'a very nice cigar. Cone shape .not many veins at all .light
brown rapper .also a nice tight roll. This cigar has a very nice smell to
it .'
Smoke:'nice draw. Nice burn. Lots of flavor in this cigar. Nice white ash'
Summary:'this cigar was very enjoyable to me .a very relaxing cigar .not
to strong and not to mild at the same time .a nice mid afternoon cigar .a
nice table cigar.'

PreSmoke:'This cigar appears to be a very well-made 6.5"x50 belicosso. It
has a smooth colorado-maduro wrapper and feels like it is well bunched.
Prelight draw is a little tight but not bad at all.'
Smoke:'Immediately after lighting the burn got all uneven and
tasted/smelled acrid. Once it corrected itself after an inch or so the
flavor improved, but still not really to my liking. At the half way point
a weird aroma kicked in, slightly like amonia. With 2 1/2 inches left I
put it down, it didn't show any signs of improving and I couldn't take it
anymore.'
Summary:'This cigar looks like a princess, but smokes like an evil
step-mother. I will not smoke another, not even to give it a second
chance, it was just that bad. But, I will say it is not the worst cigar I
have ever smoked.'

PreSmoke:'A nice looking, slightly pressed torp about 6.5 x 50 in a dark
brown wrapper. Good construction, I could only find one soft spot and that
was just above the taper. The draw was slightly tight but loosened up as I
smoked it. '
Smoke:'I was really enjoying this cigar. It had a sweet, nutty taste
along with a touch of woodiness. One of the profiles I enjoy the most.
Then at the halfway point it went south pretty quick. Bitter and metallic
would be the best way to describe it. That lasted just a short period and
it came back again. Problem was that didn't last either. The bitterness
came back again and never left.
I had to correct a persistent run three or four times before we parted
company.'
Summary:'I was looking forward to this one based on looks alone, but it
disapointed me. Maybe some additional age will bring this one around. '

PreSmoke:'Very attractive, semi-box pressed brown maduro with a slight
cedar and hay smell. Exquisite construction.'
Smoke:'Perfect draw with a coffee and warm, sweet wood flavor. Snow white
ash. Fabulous coffee flavors dominate this fairly mild bodied, but never
boring cigar. '
Summary:'What a nice ending to the blind taste tests. I hope they're not
too expensive; I want more!'

Appearance and construction 5

I enjoy the look of these. Their construction is very consistent. A dark wrapper on a torpedo seems to always invite me to have a deep rich smoke. There were some small veins but nothing to worry about.

Burn 4

It lit easily and developed a nice cone. I had some problem about half way through with uneven burning but it worked itself out.

Draw 4

There was a bit of tightness to the draw, but that did not keep me from getting a good mouthful of smoke.

Aroma 4

No burn in the throat. Nice full body aroma.

Flavor 8

I really like these. It is interesting how your taste changes over time. Last year I would have given this a 10, but I have learned to enjoy the complexities of medium bodied cigars. This cigar although having nice creamy and coffee tastes on occasion giving it more dimensions is still overwhelmed by the strength. I do not mean overwhelming in a bad sense.
