Hygrometer Question

Ok, here's the deal.

All three hygromoters in question have been Western Caliber II.

First one was bought with my desktop unit and I got it to read about 68% using a cigar oasis jr. I bought my buddy one as a gift and threw it into my humidor before giving it to him and it read 5% lower than my original one. My new Antietam came today and the new hygrometer is also reading 5% lower than my original while having both of them side by side in my desktop 'dor. So my questions are:

1. Do I assume my original is reading 5% high since 2 others seem to confirm this?
2. Or do I perform a salt test on the new one since I have my original in case it screws up the other?

If you chose the salt test, could someone condense the steps? Place hygrometer along with a capful of moistened salt in a baggie for how long?

Thanks!
David
