Cigar Oasis XL II Question
My wife gave me a new cabinet humidor at Christmas and I just can't get the darned thing seasoned. I understand it takes time for the wood to fully absorb the humidity, but it sure is taking a long time.
In any case, I bought a Cigar Oasis XL II as the humidification device and noticed that unlike my smaller Cigar Oasis XL, the fan on the larger unit blows continually. No matter what humidity level I set or what level it reads, the fan continues to blow. If anyone else has this unit, does you fan continually blow? Here's the unit I'm talking about: http://cigaroasis.com/products/cigar...sis-II-xl.html I'd also appreciate any thoughts you might have on how to get it seasoned quicker. I've got the Cigar Oasis in the lower portion of the humidor below the drawers and a bowl full of distilled water in the upper section. While the lower section reads a humidity of about 65%, the top portion stays around 50%. Here's a link to the humidor, so you can see what I'm talking about: http://www.tampahumidor.com/sd4/prod...ndham-3299.cfm I've never used the humidity beads from Heartfelt Industries before, but was thinking about buying a pound of them and putting some in the top portion to see if it helps. Anyone have thoughts on that? Thanks for any advice, guys.

beads will help but since moist air rises you might have an airflow problem as well with those center drawers. i installed an accumonitor in a TOP which has the same guts as yours but i drilled 4 -1" holes behind the drawers to allow for circulation from the bottom to the top. i use beads on 2 shelves to even out things but the one of best solutions are to keep it full!

it'll take some time for the humi to get 'normalized' - I found loading it with cigars helped some, too. And I ended up turning the humidity setting to the low sixties. It holds a lot of water, it is going to throw some humidity just sitting there. And one fan does blow constantly.
to help quiet it, I set the unit on some foam rubber, it did help make it quieter
