Single malt Christmas present ideas

I've very recently discovered single malt scotch - I'm talking within the past month. My experience is limited to the bottle of Balvenie Doublewood I've just about killed (lovin' every minute of it).

Here's my question, single malts are essentially the only booze my father drinks and I'd like to buy him a bottle or two for Christmas. He's been drinking scotch for quite a while, but isn't the type of person willing to spend too much per bottle (I can't say what his tastes are, because I've never been interested in scotch before). I'm looking for suggestions on what to get him in the 70-80 dollar price range. So far I've been looking at either the Balvenie 21 yo, or the Lagavulin 16 yo...
