Yup, honestly great lighters, especially at the super cheap price.

They work perfectly and last forever. I have yet to have one die, but i do use good fuel. For a few extra bucks a can, well refined fuel helps ensure that they keep going. I use Neon 11x, which is cheap but clean or Colibri Premium if its on sale.

The cheap neon 11x has been used in the same lighters for years without the tiniest bit of residue anywhere on the lighter, so extremely clean and nice and cheap.

Yeah, that's why I bought the Colibri butane and it doesn't fill just these 2 still, even though the person who generously sent me the quad torch said that's what she uses to fill hers.

Either brand, with or without any adapters, just doesn't fill them and i dont see or hear any movement, leak, etc of the butane. It doesn't even spray out around the fill stem as if the can was being depressed but not the fill stem which is very odd.

I at a complete loss.

Real shame as both are nice lighters.

Seriously considering passing them on in a bomb in the hopes the recipient is able to fill and use them as i hate seeing nice lighters going to waste.

Which 2 brands did you try?

I have Neon 11x (which is very cheap but seems very clean as i have used it on the same lighter for years and there wasn't even a hint of residue on the flame nozzles), and the Colibri Premium fuel, both of it work fine on my cheapo lotus Vertigo Cyclone triple flame torch lighters and a couple single jet unknown brands that I was given that have the names of different nc cigar makers on them.

Sorry it took so long to get back. It's the Xicar fuel. It has everything to do with the nozzle. The nozzle works in all my lighters. The other brand seemed like a bigger nozzle and only worked in my tabletop lighter. Everything else it just spurts lighter fluid everywhere.

I do spend a little extra money for a good cutter as they tend to be sharper, and remain so, for a long time, and a bad cut always leads to a peeling wrapper in my experience, but my Colibri i currently use was only $40 and was a Christmas present.

My Xikar cutters need to be sharpened. I am hesitant to send them back because instead of sharpening them, they just send you a new one made with Chinese steel instead of German Solligen steel that it came from originally. Especially the one with the redwood handles, as they were a Father's Day gift from my girls.

If I am at Maxwell's, I use their store cutters and lighters (perfect V-cut, BTW). If at home, I use a single guillotine La Luna cutter and whatever lighter I have within arm's reach.

I tried the fancy and the mundane. 9 out of 10 times mundane wins.

Don't let my experience drive your purchases. I gladly endorse Xikar's cutters, but I can't endorse any lighter.

I bought my dad a Xikar pocket knife with the handles made from fossilized mammoth bone for Father's Day a few years back and he was ashamed to tell me that it got lost somewhere in Tennessee. Considering what I paid for it, I was disappointed. But, hey, aren't most pocket knives lost with everyday use? Can't replace it because they don't make them anymore. Last I checked, they don't even manufacture knives anymore.

I seldom see a Southern gentleman that doesn't carry a pocket knife in their pocket on a daily basis. Mine has carbon fiber steel handles, but I carry it more often than I do my pistol. I consider it to be a tool more than a weapon, even if it were effective in hand to hand conflict. I'd have the winning Powerball a better chance than engaging a perp at a 7-11 buying lottery tickets anytime (can't remember the last time I was in a 7-11, and I'm pretty sure I never bought a lottery ticket there)).

Well since this has morphed into a different thread...

I bought a Xikar Volta lighter , table top thing , after about 2 years it started faltering , I mentioned that to the cigar store owner , she said , bring it in I will give you a new one , fast fwd 2 years , the one she had in the store for everyday use , quit , mine was silver , i really wanted a copper colored one , I told her i would give her mine and split the cost for a copper one , she just traded me even up , so , I figure I should send the original one back to Xikar and give her the replacement...

So after all that, Xikar , I have had no issues with, but , they are not designed for "commercial" use ...
