Perfectos and uneven burn

Anyone else consistently get at least a slightly, but most times worse, uneven burn pretty much the whole length, every time, with perfectos?

Doesn't seem to matter if i leave the foot as is, or of i trim it a little bit to provide a larger lighting surface.

They almost always either start with an uneven burn right of the bat, or within the first inch, and lasting the duration of the smoke, even with a correction, which i typically don't bother with as experience has taught me its just going to get uneven again shortly, or because it typically isnt really uneven enough to be an issue.

While the occasional uneven burn certainly happens across all marcas and vitolas, for some reason for me, its pretty much a guarantee with a perfecto, so i tend to shy away from them when purchasing.

If anyone has any ideas, suggestions or tips, I would certainly welcome them, with much appreciation.

Thanks,
Sean

They tend to even up once the burn gets past the tuck of the foot. Just light the tuck, it will even up. Perfectos and other figurados are rolled by the best rollers in the factory, they will even up.

You're overthinking it and worrying too much on this one, bro. You don't have to do all that gender reassignment surgery and mutilate your perfectos.

I have left the tuck of the foot on many times, and thet still get uneven, and remain so throughout the cigar.

Sometimes not really bad enough for a correction, but often get out of hand and need a correction.

They are just the only vitola i always have issues with. Typically after a correction they remain at an acceptable burn, but they more often than not need a correction.

They just never seem to even out for me otherwise, and its typically the shorter, fatter ones like the AF Hemingway Best Seller and similar.

I have no issues with the Signature and Classic that I typically stick to for the length, no common burn issues, and the shape just feels better to me.

Turn your cigar as you smoke it; about 15 degrees at a time. Or, wait until the burn is uneven and turn it 180. Sometimes the air pathways in the cigar get turned in the rolling process.

Thanks for the advice. Whenever I have an uneven burn I something, i was told to put the lesser burned part at the top of the cigar, so thats what I always do.

Haven't tried slowly rotating it while smoking though, only when lighting, so I'll give that a try next time.

With any cigar, a little saliva on the thumb applied to the wrapper on the side burning faster will usually slow it down enough for the other side to catch up.

With that said, I've been known to relight a Hemingway after the nipple has burned off and the light doesn't look even across the cigar. IMHO the nipples are a gimmick in the first place.

Yeah, definitely ised the saliva trick many times and it does typically work.

I agree the little nipple is a gimmick, and an annoying one at that

It does light them fast and easy, but its almost always a guaranteed uneven burn that needs correction with it.
