You need to get the humidity (and possibly the temperature) in your Antietam down ASAP. Mold means RH is too high, temp may contribute to the problem. Open the door, dry the whole thing down ASAP. Try some dry kitty litter beads (SEE THREAD THIS ROOM FOR PROPER KIND) to speed up the process.
Second, don't write your cigars off yet. You need to examine them carefully before making any harsh decisions. Light surface mold (confined to the wrapper) is just no big deal. Carefully brush it off with a clean, dry, soft cloth, get the RH back in line, and they'll be fine. If the mold has gotten into the filler, then the affected cigars are ruined. That's rare, though...I've dealt with a LOT of cigars with surface mold, but I've only ever had one that had mold in the filler. I'd pitch any moldy boxes, but the cigars may not be ruined.

What he said.
Wipe off all the visible mold with soft cloths, changing them often. get the temps under 72 if possible and get the humidity way down. then start inspecting the cigars individually and wiping them down too. You'll be alright. You might loose a few, but over all, you should be ok.

Hopefully you have a digital hygrometer. If so, tell us the humidity. If it's below 70 percent, you may not have mold. Do not trust the humidity setting on the Oasis. One of mine is about 5 percent off.
If possible, post pictures online and send us the link. We'll be better able to diagnose your problem. In the meantime, follow Mad Dawg's advice above and make sure your humidity is under control.

Above all, DON'T PANIC!! It's not the end of the world.
Pull out a cigar, relax, and go through what everyone here has advised you to do. We'll get you through this.

I've contacted them several times. They asked me to do several tests which I did but with no outcome. Those costing around $150.00 dollars not to mention if I sent it back, I have nothing to humidify the contents during that time, I was in between a rock and a hard place. The humidifier that came with the humidor has never kept constant humidity and it's cost me a ton of money. I complained and tried to make it right with little help. Finally I cam across all this mold, after severe dry times as well. It really bothered me as the majority of my smokes are isoms or super premiums with age. I've been smoking In Between The Lines because they were in cellophane and not as affected. I have box of Choix Supremes, Cohiba Siglo I's, Party Shorts, Various Opus and Greycliff, CoRo's, Reyes, Rass, etc. in there. I guess I should have just thrown the cash down for a new humidier but felt it was their mistake but in the longrun, I screwed myself. I'll do as others have said and try and salvage as many as possible. Thanks for all the advice. |

You will be happier with the passive beads for humidification.
