Char- grilled octopus
Took the wife to her favorite Greek diner for Valentine's. She adores Greek food (I don't), and they make a decent cheeseburger so it is a place that we can both agree on.
My doctor put me on the Paleo diet recently and this was the first restaurant outing since. It rules out the burger and fries, so I was compelled to order something different. Now I like octopus every way I have eaten it, but few places can cook it without turning it into pieces of sliced inner tube. To my surprise, this was perfectly cooked and was tender and juicy in a sauce of vinegar, olive oil and oregano. If it had been me cooking it, I wouldn't have been able to resist adding garlic to the sauce, but it was still delicious. Combined with a lamb souvlaki stick grilled medium rare, it was a delightful lunch. Cue brickbats for eating octopus...
