Okay. My advice then is to seal it, humidify it and see what happens. Don't mess with a liner at all. If you really need one for the sake of a good seal, use a thin plywood like birch or mahogany. And I think I'd use active humidification. Beads might soak up pine resin. It will probably work fine for box storage.
