Griffin Fuerte Robusto
Well I got a great deal on a 10 box of these, so I scooped them up. From what I read, this is a little stronger smoke than I usually like, but it was a good deal, so i grabbed them anyway. They've been sitting in the humidor for about 2 weeks now, so I figured I'd light one up today and see how it was. The cigar itself was constructed exquisitely, as one would expect from a Griffin, and had the typical white band with a second "Fuerte" band below that. It clipped easily and smelled really great coming out of the box. I lit it up and surprisingly, I had a little bit of a tough time getting this to light up. After a few minutes, I got the burn straightened out and did not have a problem with the burn after that. The flavors that stood out to me are spice and a certain flavor that I find hard to explain. The best thing I can say is that it tasted "green". Definately the spiciness is what stood out to me though. I really enjoyed this stick alot, but towards the end, I started getting lightheaded from the nicotine. I put this down with about and inch and a half left, and I actually got a pretty nasty case of nicotine poisoning. I came on here though and read about using sugar to kill the side effects, and I have to say that it worked amazingly fast. I think I'm gonna let these guys sit in the humidor and see if the mellow out a bit. It's kind of a shame that this cigar is too strong for me, because I really enjoyed the flavor.
Overall, I'd give it a 7 out of 10 Would have been an 8 if it didn't get me sick. Thanks for reading my FIRST CW review... Peter G. |
