I couldn't wait any longer. There was leftover ribeye roast beef on the table, and the food-wine match seemed inevitable. Apparently, Gassier selected his ten best barriques of Syrah and Mourvèdre to produce the 2004, and it showed. What an amazing combination of dense, dark fruit, balance, voluptuousness and elegance. I've gone through more than my fair share of top-flight wines from Côte Rôtie, Hermitage and Bandol, and this one fully measures up to those standards, at a fraction of the cost.
I need to get more.
