Spectacular deal
If you have a Kroger or an affiliate nearby. They have 6qt enameled cast iron Dutch ovens marked down to $20. That's basically at cost, since normal retail on these is $70-80. Picked up a couple of them. Now, I need to do a culling to make room for them.

Five to ten years ago, my wife managed to get me one at christmas, and she wound up paying nearly forty, I believe. I love that thing. I've made rustic bread in it a couple of times and it earned a place in my heart. I'll be cooking up pinto beans and a bone from the ham tomorrow, probably. I tend to put it in the oven at 220 for a while. |

They're best for a slow braise in the oven. Stove top, not so much. They really retain heat once they get up to temp, but you can't use them like normal cookware or even cast iron cookware.
Makes a helluva pot roast or cassoulet.

We have a few and have nicknamed them the "magic kettles". Love 'em.
