Altria sucks

If you haven't heard, Altria sent a letter to the FDA asking them NOT to exempt premium cigars from upcoming legislation. Below is a list of Altria owned companies.
At-A-Glance
Philip Morris USA
U.S. Smokeless Tobacco Co.
John Middleton
Nat Sherman
Nu Mark
Ste. Michelle Wine Estates
Philip Morris Capital Corp.
I only purchase one of these brands, but will not anymore. Several retailers I know have already stopped ordering from them.

It's been a good stock for the last 20 years.

Michael Herklot is trying to put a good spin on this on Facebook. Saying Altria was misunderstood in essence. No matter how much lipstick you put on a pig, it is still a pig.

Carlito Fuente posted about this on Facebook, as well.
He is of the opinion that the company blew smoke up Michael Herklots' back-side. Shame, too, he's a good guy, loves his work. It leaves Michael in a poor position. I know he'd get hired, but to have to make that choice at the drop of a hat....

I imagine he is signed to some kind of non compete agreement that makes it tough for him to leave, Altria really hosed him up the rump

Smoke Inn is pulling Nat Sherman from their shelves. They too believe this was Corporate Altria and not the team at Nat SHerman

That really upsets me. I just found nat sherman products on the JR auction, and have liked every one of their products. I've bought maybe 100 over the last few months at about $1-2 apiece, and i'm loving it.

Now It stops.

Our city council is trying to bull through an ordinance that requires all online retailers to charge and remit sales tax to our city. They gave the same old excuses. Fair, add revenue, etc, but all it amounts to is that it's going to burden small businesses on the internet. Sure, amazon could do it. What about Peggy's pies, who sells baking supplies?

People abandon local businesses for internet for other reasons than sales tax that amounts to a few pennies on the dollar. the city won't even recoup the cost of the vote.

These things just make me want to scream, because every level and every direction it's still just BS.
