I'll never buy from Thompsons ... as they generally sell overpriced crap.

I bought from Thompson's once and will never do it again. I bought a 2 fer and only received one box. I figured ok, whoever picked the order forgot one, so I called customer service and told them I only received one of my two boxes.
My response was that I should return the one box so they can pick the order again for the 2 boxes. I asked couldn't they just send me the box I didn't get. I did want the cigars. The operator said they couldn't do that because their computer system wouldn't let them see the online sales only the phone sales. So i fired off an email about their lack of customer service and obviously the people they hire can't make a simple decision on their own. They replied and said they were sending the other box. I still let them know that I thought the way they handled the situation was poor. The operator I spoke to should have been able to see my order and just send me the missing box. They replied they would look into it and acted like they were doing me a favor by completing my original order. They even made a point that they were sending the second box and not charging me shipping. Woohoo. So I will never order from Thompson's again. Besides their prices are always $20+ higher than anywhere else. Sorry for the long story but you asked why.

I definitely won't do business with Thompson. Long story short, they are a bunch of f*ck-ups.
The other site I won't due business with is the auction side of famous smoke shop. I've purchased alot from the regular retail side with no problems, but the auction site it crap in my opinion. I once won a single cigar for $1. The shipping was $6 and they sent a damaged cigar to boot. There are just too many good sites out there to bother with the crappy ones.

On a lark, I compared between CI and Thompson's the pricing whilst sitting upon the Throne. Yeah, I know, it was just curiosity.
I couldn't believe it. Some boxes were as high as 60 BUCKS A BOX MORE at Thompson's. A lot of the boxes at Thompsons were actually 10 dollars OVER msrp, which I always considered to be a complete joke of an estimate of price for cigars. I couldn't believe that at least someone there doesn't have a hard time sleeping at night knowing that uninformed people order boxes they can find for 50 or 60 dollars less somewhere else. I mean, like, that's a whole 'nother BOX of sticks. Not to mention their actual catalog is piss-poor... more on that in a sec. That being said, I broke down and actually ordered something from them today. I know, I know. It was that link that someone else posted last week, and there were too many cigars in there that I wanted to try for that price. Now, if you read that deal and then looked at the picture, if you're sharp you'll notice some discrepancies. Here's the wording: Eight Great Cigars For Only $9.95 Connoisseurs and cigar magazines afford them their highest rankings. To start, there's the highly rated C.A.O. Gold and the Padron, a delicious smoke producing the most beautiful ash we've seen. Don't overlook the delectable Criollo wrapper of Toraño Exodus Silver. Compare it with the C.A.O. Criollo. Then there's the Cusano 18 Natural, the only cigar with an eighteen year old wrapper. As for that, Rocky Patel's Vintage might have a case. You get one of each of these magnificent cigars. Thompson also adds two of its Vintage Especiale, the cigars that compete with any. Get all eight for just $9.95. Now here's the picture: http://secure.thompsoncigar.com/zoom...=1406&zoomer=1 To start off, I think they confused themselves when they mentioned actual good cigars... The CAO Criollo, for example is mentioned as a "compare to" cigar, not as one that is included in the deal. It's in the picture though. And the CAO Gold, which IS in the deal, ISN'T in the picture. The RP stick in the deal is NOT the RP Sun-Grown that's in the picture either. Man these guys are bad with error-checking. You just don't see those kinds of mistakes in JR's catalog. And I'm not sure what those two things are at the very right of the picture but I'm assuming they're for protecting the other sticks from bumps and bruises along the way and will be thrown in the trash immediately upon their arrival. All of that being said, those six sticks (and whether or not I get the ones in the picture or the ones in the wording, who knows, right? But either way I'm ok with it) are worth the 15 bucks shipped to me. Less than 3 bucks a stick shipped works. I am just fearing any kind of marketing phone call or anything from them.
