Angy Elf?

I've been watching old Columbo episodes on Prime. He always smokes the bright greenies. So naturally I want some. The Angry Elf cigars at Holts look like what I want. Low priced long filler cigars. Reviews are a bit mixed but more on the positive side. Argyles are also lower priced and might be good.

Anyone smoked these?

Hey bud,
I have seen these in the Holt's catalogs and on their specials, but have not tried any of them. I am curious about the Argyle brand, too.

I'm one of the weirdos that likes an occasional candela. For the price, you're not risking much.

Got these today. Tried one. Firm roll, easy draw. Flavor is toasty tobacco with a hint of green. Nice! Fairly even burn, no bitterness, pretty tasty. Seems like a very good cigar for the money. I'll comment later on how consistent they are. The onsite reviews are mixed in that regard. If they are decent, I'll probably try the maduro and shade wrapped versions too.

I remembering the candela wrapper having flavors of dark chocolate. That was the LGC candela. Wonder if they still make them.

I did my searches on the usual sites using "candela". Not a lot of results. Didn't see an LGC. The most expensive candela I smoked was a RP Decade. Frankly I think the Angry Elf is better than that one. I might be interested in the Fuente version. I think it's mid-priced.

Lew once said that most cigars before 1970 were wrapped in candela. He should know.

I ordered a couple bundles of the maduro robusto today. They were out of the shades in that size. Will post results.
