Keurig goes DRM

http://www.canadianbusiness.com/blog...scence-ethics/

Glad I don't have one at home. I have one at work, they pay the bill on that coffee.

I'm sure it'll get cracked, but fighting all that will still make it more expensive than it already is.

our company has Keurig machines on every floor - 3 per floor, if I count right. That's 12 units connected into the water lines.

And a ton of green mountain / caribou, etc. coffee without any K branding.
Ooops.

FU keurig.

I believe there is already a 3rd party alternative to this new DRM pod or did I not see that? Anyway....its their platform they can do what they like, and so can consumers.

tree house foods has beaten the DRM, and is being sued by Keurig (which is owned by Green Mtn). I have heard that Green Mountain has sold licenses to use their DRM to some companies.

I hate the damn things, and it amazes me that my staff that constantly complain we should do more 'green stuff' don't see a problem with all those little pods from Keurig.

Precisely. It certainly wasn't difficult for me to resist the 'lure' of a Keurig.

I'm not a coffee guy but can hammer lattes. Don't want two machines. Be nice to find a reasonably-priced machine that does both.

Piracy sucks. It's even worse when a company uses piracy as an excuse to screw a consumer blue.

this brings to mind the napster debacle. They allowed millions of people to rip off the recording artists, and when they were finally called on it and lost the fight, they started ripping off the public. You had to subscribe, then pay a price for individual songs, and if you stopped subscribing to the service, your license to the songs was lost.

I wish the american public wasn't so damned full of complete morons. Crap like this wouldn't last a day if there were more cynical, angry MFers like me around.

If you're so <redacted> that you think pod coffee is a good idea to begin with, then I guess you're just going to have to suck it up and deal with the consequences of your decision, aren't you Nancy?

Having my last cup of the day here, very nice Ethiopian Single Estate Hambela Special Prep, roasted last night just to FC. Nothing that has ever come out of a fucking pod can rival the flavors in this cup.
