"Quick and dirty" humidor

I'm about to set up my first humidor. Though I'm sure I will eventually move on to bigger and better things, at this point I just need to figure out the cheapest way possible to keep a dozen or so cigars in good condition for a couple of months max. On the advice of some of the people around here, I was planning to go the cheap cooler/drymistat stick route. I was going to order the drymistat stick from JR with my first 5-pack order of cigars from them, but it seems like then there might be a chance that the cigars I order would dry out before the humidity in the coolerdor gets to where it needs to be. Should I be concerned about this? And does the cooler/drymistat sound like the best option for what I'm looking for?

It's fairly dry where I live (southern Wisconsin); I'm not sure what the ambient humidity is but I left a cigar out in a ziploc bag for 4 or 5 days one time and it was barely smokable after that.

Thanks in advance!
