The IPCPR, under its new president, who is friends with cigarlibrarian and who will do an interview with cigarlibrarian, has changed its name, again. The old Retail Tobacco Dealers Association became the International Premium Cigar and Pipe Retailers in 2007 is now, the Premium Cigar Association. As early as next year, they will open one day of the show to consumers. You may just get to go.

In my estimation, this will be a total cluster, especially if they come back to New Orleans at some point. Louisiana, the last two or three shows was trying to force vendors to submit sales taxes to the state and local governments on cigars they were giving away as samples. They had state alcohol, tobacco and firearms agents roaming the show floor, it was and will be a wreck if consumers are allowed onto the exhibit floor. This is not a retail operation, this is a trade show where wholesale business gets done, once there are consumers on the floor, the vendors will not likely be able to GIVE cigars away at all due to retail restrictions, or due to the numbers of retail consumers on the show floor.

I hope it works, but I have my misgivings.

I though the same thing BB when I first read about it. Kinda doens't seem fair to the vendors OR the retailers.

It does not. How can they get business done when anyone with a pass is hovering over, trying to paw at "free" cigars and what have you. I get it, that regular but interested smokers (like us) would want to be there, we've heard of this show every year and it looks like the best thing since sliced-white bread.

One thing really caught my eye, from La Aurora, this addition to the 107 line, the Zeppelin. I really dig these shaped cigars, little perfectos, belicosos, torpedoes, and what have you.


From their posting:

With a mild and slightly spicy beginning, La Aurora 107 increases its body to a medium to full level along the smoke. It is very rich in tobacco flavors with a deep cocoa aroma accompanied by a sweet and spicy tip. The wrapper is sun-grown, which gives a slightly rustic look but has a very oily and bright natural red color. With an even burn it gives way to a light grey consistent ash that shows it is a very well-cured and constructed stick.

That looks awesome. Not a huge fan of the 8/10 strength though!
