Okay, last night I had a rocks glass with a couple ounces of the cuervo neat. There wasn't any fruit in it, but it had good tequila flavor, with sort of a smoky note to it, and a cinnamon note. It was mildish and smooth, and was best in little "shots" instead of dainty little sips, like I drink my scotch or other drinks. I think I've been turned off by tequila by bad stuff, and I may like it if I buy better.

If it says "Cuervo" on the bottle, I'm not getting anywhere near it. You make the one you got sound OK, but the association I have in my mind with that rank goat piss they call "Gold" and sell by the tanker truck to gringos is just too strong.

absolutely understand. I had only a few choices under $30, mostly unknown to me, and I thought that the cuervo would at least be worth a try, and if it sucked, we'd do margaritas for my wife with it. It's not bad, it'll do to drink, because I'm easy enough to please.
