iPod continuity

When I was in radio they used to preach continuity, you know, never follow a female artist with another female artist and make sure the "feel" of the songs flow.

Today, listening to my iPod, I got "Shot From the Heart" by the Dicks followed by "You are my Sunshine" from the OBWT soundtrack.

So, what are some of your more disjointed pairings that yoy have heard with your iPod on shuffle?

I got so much variety on mine that I can't even attempt - It may go from Townes Van Zandt to Bobby Rush to Cab Calloway

I should jump in here with an editorial comment:

This discussion is only valuable if the participants are sincerely fans of music. I appreciate the technical ability of all talented musicians; therefore I can listen to Brian Webster's amazing bass performance on Hammer Smashed Face; and appreciate the subtle elegance of Carter Beauford's drumming on DMB's Sattelite despite the complete discontinuity of genre.

That is to say; it'll be easy to post a real non-sequitur for someone who just has a bunch of random bullshit on their Ipod because they're ambivalent about music. I hate that.

I know I'm an arrogant bastard, by the way.

I shit you not, these are the last four songs that have played on my iPhone at work:

Neil Diamond - Soolaimon (quite possible the greatest piece of music ever composed )

to

Queensryche - Eyes of a Stranger

to

Flatt & Scruggs - Foggy Mountain Breakdown

to

David Bowie - Let's Dance

I understand what your're saying and how you feel, but it goes against the spirit of this forum as established. Just because someone has wildly diverse taste (that you find random) does not mean that they are "ambivalent" or not "sincerely fans of music."

I hear ya, but what I said was "random bullshit...because of ambivalen[ce]". Ergo, you don't have to tell me that "wildly diverse" doesn't equal "ambivalent". You've reversed the order of my sentiment. Also (just to be a dick), It is your assertion, not mine, that I find a collection that is "wildly diverse" to be random. I've said no such thing.

I'm talking about a truly random selection...Like when you're scrolling through someone's Ipod, get excited to see a few bands you like interspersed in their collection, comment on it, and the owner of the Ipod has no idea why those bands appear in their collection. Usually it's because of a previous significant other or some other non-fan-of-the-music-situation.

I kind of knew I was getting myself into a pissing contest when I posted my OP. I know I'm an arrogant, intolerant music snob; but you had me wrong in your analysis.
