So, tried out the pictured pipe with the 3 slits on the top and bottom of the stem, and as I kinda expected, I got nothing but air. No smoke whatsoever.
But, I really like the looks of the rusticated bowl and shank, so rectifying the problem with some very strong glue very lightly covering all 6 suits. This should make it a good, usable pipe vs a worthless one like it was. No idea what the manufacturer was thinking when they designed this. I friggin love tobacco!
