I have a few new especial selections in custom boxes I would like to put away in a seperate coolidor for long term storage/aging. I feel fairly comfortable with the storage method I now am using for daily use, in a coolidor with beads. I was wondering if this would be the same method, with occasional opening to exchange air, to use in my aging coolidor? ( Beads, cooler, bits of cedar for other cigar boxes).

Other than the "occasional opening to exchange air" thing, sounds like a solid plan. You will open it occasionally to check RH levels anyway. More often than necessary simply recharges the oxygen in there more often, and oxygen is not beneficial for long-term preservation of cigars.
