Roasting Coffee In The Cold
It sucks, and that's all I'm going to say about that one.

When it gets really REALLY cold here in Texas (those 2 days each winter when it gets to around 35F), it can take close to 11 minutes to reach second crack in my Original Popperies. I use an oil lamp chimney to help keep small beans like Yemenis from blowing up out of the roast chamber. I've found that if I loosely block the top of the chimney by inverting a steel measuring cup over it, the temps in the roast chamber increase and I can shorten the roast times a good bit. You can also put a box over the whole roaster, which will drive temps up and times down.

I use a propane camping stove on low heat to augment the heat gun/dog bowl in the winter. If it is windy, I put the bowl in an old wok to help block the breeze.

I add more beans in cold weather. I added a 1/8 cup scoop extra and the times drop back to about normal. More beans=more heat

I put my popper in a cardboard box. Saw it somewhere online. Keeps the heat up and work pretty good.
