Exclamation Smoke and Vote: Election and Taxes Update

Got this morning's latest e-mail from CRA.

Quote:
n 14 days, you will have the opportunity to exercise one of your most fundamental rights - the right to vote. Please make sure that you vote for candidates who support the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, which means, the right to enjoy a premium, hand rolled cigar!

The cigar industry is fighting a war against overregulation, taxation and related attacks at every level of government. That's why it's important to let these politicians know that you Smoke and Vote!
Colorado and Oregon, who would believe it!
Quote:
Oppose Colorado EE Proposition - Increases Taxes On Premium Cigars

Proposition EE in Colorado proposes a $294 million tax increase, including an increase in the taxes on premium cigars.

If EE passes, this will increase the taxes on premium cigars to 50% beginning on January 1, 2021; 56% on January 1, 2024, and 62% on January 1, 2027.

If passed, Proposition EE will hurt Colorado premium cigar retailers and consumers. This ill-conceived ballot measure must be defeated on Election Day.

Oppose Oregon Measure 108 - Increases Taxes On Premium Cigars

Measure 108 in Oregon proposes a $400 million tax increase, including an increase in the taxes on premium cigars.

If Measure 108 passes, it would double the taxes on premium cigars to 65% of the wholesale cost at a max of $1.00.

Measure 108 is an ill-conceived ballot measure that will penalize Oregon premium cigar retailers that rely on premium handmade cigars for their livelihood.

Support Oregon premium cigar retailers and consumers by opposing Measure 108.
