NC smokers--legislative action needed

get in touch with your congressman--House Bill 76 is set to be taken up on Monday. It will ban smoking in public restaurants (as opposed to private clubs). This is the next step of an all out ban.

after this, we need to pressure them to reign in the tobacco tax increase. I don't think we can even hope to keep it at it's present low level, but they're talking about going from 5 CENTS a pack to over a dollar. I wish I had numbers to show that they may increase revenue from this tax on paper, but they will loose out on sales tax as people buy less and from other places.
